VATICAN CITY (Reuters) – The man who tried to kill former Pope John Paul II 33 years ago showed up at the Vatican on Saturday to put white roses on his tomb and said he wanted to meet Pope Francis.

Mehmet Ali Agca, a Turk, left John Paul critically injured after firing several shots in the failed assassination attempt in St. Peter’s Square on May 13, 1981.

The former pope forgave Agca, once a member of a Turkish far right group known as the Grey Wolves, and went to meet him in 1983 in the Rome prison where he had been sentenced to life imprisonment for the attack.

Agca called the Italian daily la Repubblica on Saturday to announce he had arrived in the Vatican, his first visit since the assassination attempt and exactly 31 years after John Paul met him in prison.

The visit was confirmed to Reuters by Father Ciro Benedettini, the Vatican’s deputy spokesman, who said Agca stood for a few moments in silent meditation over the tomb in St. Peter’s Basilica before leaving two bunches of white roses.

Agca, 56, was pardoned by Italy in 2000 and extradited to Turkey where he was imprisoned for the 1979 murder of a journalist and other crimes. He was released from jail in 2010.

The attack against John Paul, who died in 2005, has remained clouded by unanswered questions over who may have been behind it. An Italian investigative parliamentary commission said in 2006 it was “beyond reasonable doubt” that it was masterminded by leaders of the former Soviet Union.

The Vatican on Saturday gave a cool response to Agca’s request to meet with Pope Francis. “He has put his flowers on John Paul’s tomb; I think that is enough,” Vatican spokesman father Federico Lombardi told la Repubblica.

DOES Col 1:16 PROVES THAT CHRIST IS THE CREATOR GOD OR HUMAN ONLY?

Christ is Almighty God and Eternal King

Christ is Almighty God and Eternal King

  • John Carlos Sanbuenaventura
    John Carlos Sanbuenaventura

ITO ANG SABI NI JOHN FLORES : Does Colossians 1:16 teach that the Lord Jesus Christ created all things? The verse clearly said, “For by him all things were created…all things were created by him and for him” (Col. 1:16 NIV)

    ANSWER:

Nowhere in the verse that says “Christ is God” and “Jesus created all things.” What the verse actually said:

“For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.” (Col. 1:16 NIV)

[Does Colossians 1:16 teach that the Lord Jesus Christ created all things?]

YES. THAT IS REALLY THE CONTEXT OF THE TEXT. CHRIST IS THE ORIGIN OF CREATION, HE IS THE REASON FOR CREATION AND EVERYTHING WAS CREATED FOR HIM. IF JESUS IS ONLY HUMAN THEN GOD IS NECESSITATED TO CREATED THE ENTIRE WORLD FOR A MERE HUMAN BEING. GOD CREATED EVERYTHING FOR CHRIST BECAUSE CHRIST IS GOD.

IF CHRIST IS ONLY HUMAN HE CANNOT BE THE REASON AND GOAL OF CREATION BECAUSE HE IS PART OF THE CREATED WORLD. THE STARS AND THE WORLD ARE CREATED FOR THE GLORY OF GOD NOT FOR MERE HUMAN BEING:

Ps 19:1 [KJV] “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.”

IF CHRIST IS GOD IT FITS PERFECTLY. EVERYTHING WERE CREATED FOR CHRIST NOT FOR FELIX MANALO. INSTEAD, EVERYTHING INCLUDING THE FLOWERS AND THE STONES, THE WATER AND FIRE, THE WIND AND THE SOIL WERE CREATED FOR CHRIST. FOR WHAT? TO DECLARE HIS GLORY BECAUSE HE IS GOD AND BEING GOD THE ENTIRE MATERIAL UNIVERSE IS HIS HANDY WORK… THEY ARE WORKS OF HIS ALMIGHTY POWER. THE ENTIRE COSMOS IS A MASTERPIECE OF GOD.

[The verse clearly said, “For by him all things were created…all things were created by him and for him” (Col. 1:16 NIV)

WELL, THIS IS VERY CLEAR: “ALL THINGS WERE CREATED BY HIM” SO CHRIST IS CREATOR…. “EVERYTHING WERE CREATED FOR HIM” THEN CREATION IS FOR THE GLORY AND HONOR OF CHRIST BECAUSE HE IS GOD AND HE IS THE CREATOR. JUST LIKE THE BEAUTIFUL PAINTING GIVES GLORY AND HONOR AND FAME TO THE MASTER WHO PAINTED IT.

ANSWER:

[Nowhere in the verse that says “Christ is God” and “Jesus created all things.” What the verse actually said:

“For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.” (Col. 1:16 NIV)]

HA HA HA….THE VERSE ATTEST THAT CHRIST IS THE CREATOR OF ALL THINGS. BECAUSE EVERYTHING CAME INTO BEING THROUGH HIM AND FOR HIM. GOSH, THAT IS SO GREAT. NO MERE MAN CAN CLAIM SUCH A THING. IF CHRIST IS ONLY HUMAN THEN HE IS ONLY PART OF THE CREATED BEINGS SO IT IS WRONG THAT EVERYTHING CAME INTO BEING THROUGH HIM BECAUSE HE WAS CONCEIVED AND BORN LATER. THE WATER, EARTH, WIND AND FIRE ARE CREATED FOR CHRIST AND NOT FOR FELIX MANALO WHO IS A FAKE ANGEL AND ONLY HUMAN. A SINFUL HUMAN WITH RAPE CASE AND ADULTEROUS AFFAIRS.

SINCE CHRIST IS THE CREATOR AND GOAL OF CREATION THEN HE IS GOD. CREATION IS DONE BY GOD, THROUGH GOD AND FOR GOD. NO MORE NO LESS.

BECAUSE EVERYTHING CAME INTO EXISTENCE THROUGH CHRIST AND THROUGH CHRIST HE IS SUPERIOR TO ALL CREATED THINGS. IT MEANS HE IS HIGHER THAN THE HUMANS AND HIGHER THAN THE ANGELS. IF JESUS IS ONLY HUMAN THEN HE IS ONLY MADE OF DUST AND CANNOT BE SUPERIOR TO EVERYTHING ELSE:

Col 1:15 [GNB] “Christ is the visible likeness of the invisible God. He is the first-born Son, SUPERIOR TO ALL CREATED THINGS.”

HOW CAN A MERE CREATURE, A HUMAN ONLY BE SUPERIOR TO ALL CREATION. THE ONE WHO IS SUPERIOR TO ALL CREATION MUST BE “THE NON CREATED”. THAT IS WHY CHRIST IS  THE ONLY BEGOTTEN OF GOD. HE IS NOT CREATED BY GOD BUT BEGOTTEN. THUS, HE EXISTED BEFORE CREATION. ONLY GOD EXISTED BEFORE CREATION:

Col 1:17 [GNB] “CHRIST EXISTED BEFORE ALL THINGS, and in union with him all things have their proper place.”

IF JESUS IS ONLY HUMAN THEN MARY AND JOSEPH AND MOSES, DAVID, ABRAHAM, ETC CAME BEFORE HIM. INSTEAD, CHRIST EXISTED BEFORE ALL ELSE. HE IS THEN GOD WHO IS THE ONE BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE. NO MORE NO LESS.

UGANDA: CHRISTIANS CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS WITH JOY AND LOVE

Aloysius Kayiwa

Christmas is always a joy in Uganda as Christians not only prepare their hearts to allow the Lord into their lives but also praise God. It is time to re-unite with family members, do charity deeds and show the world the joy that comes with birth of Christ. In his Christmas and New Year message, the metropolitan Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese sent a message in which he called upon a “rebirth of the faith and moral living” from Ugandan Christians;

“Jesus’ Birth gives value to human life” Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese, Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga said;  “May this Christmas be an occasion of rebirth in Faith and Moral Living.”

“RIZAL AND THE ATENEO” By Fr. Horacio de la Costa, S.J

Homily delivered by Horacio de la Costa, S.J. at the Ateneo Alumni Mass on 19 June 1952Alumnus Jose Rizal kept in touch with the Ateneo mainly through four men. There was Father Faura, who prophesied that he would end up on a scaffold. There was Father Pastells, who sought to restore his Catholic Faith by patient argument.  There was Father Balaguer, who reconciled him to the Church before he died.  And there was Father Sanchez, who was his friend.

I think it can be said that these four men, each in his own fashion, express what the Ateneo should mean, and would like to mean, to all its alumni.  The Ateneo is a school; first and foremost, it is a body of teachers; and the essential duty of a teacher is to speak the truth. The truth is often unpleasant, often unpopular; but the teacher, if he wishes to be faithful to his profession, cannot afford to dilute or debase it.  He must speak the truth as he sees it, no matter how much it hurts.

Rizal had worked out during his sojourn in Spain a thoroughgoing plan of colonial reform. Whatever Father Faura thought of that plan, he saw at least one thing clearly – that the Spanish government would never stand for it.  Sooner or later it would try to crush both the plan and its author. That was what he meant when he said that Rizal would end up on a scaffold.

We could wish that Father Faura could have put it a little less bluntly, a little more diplomatically.  He might have spared Rizal’s feelings.  But there are times when to spare a man’s feelings is to betray his friendship. What Father Faura said was shocking; he meant it to be.  He wanted to shock Rizal into seeing that he was faced with a choice, and that his very life depended upon what he chose.  He did not tell him what to choose. Rizal was not a boy any longer but a man, and it was a man’s privilege to choose; but it was also a man’s privilege to be told the consequences of his choice.

Rizal saw and chose; and the fact that he chose with his eyes open, with the scaffold at the end of the road having been pointed out to him, is his claim to be our greatest alumnus.

All of us, at some time or other in our lives, will be faced with the necessity of making a similar decision. Beset by fears and forebodings, we shall go to seek strength and comfort from those we miss.  I do not think we shall ever lack friends who will try to soothe us with ambiguities, who will blur alternatives, dull the horns of a dilemma on the mistaken principle that what we don’t know won’t burn us, on the childish principle that medicine doesn’t taste half as bad if taken with eyes shut.

But rare indeed is the friend who will tell us the truth; who will pay us the supreme compliment of assuming that we are not afraid to act on our principles.  It is our hope as alumni that we shall always find such a friend where Rizal found him – at the Ateneo.

However, it is equally important to remember that respect for the truth must go hand in hand with respect for the individual conscience.  To force the truth on the people’s minds, to ram the truth down people’s throats, is not only unjust: it is unwise.  Nothing breeds error so quickly as truth accepted under constraint.  It was to be regretted that Rizal lost the priceless heritage of the Faith; but granted the fact that he lost it, there was only one way of restoring it to him: by convincing him, by convincing his mind, that he had erred.  There were easier ways; threats, cajolery, flattery, the emotional argument; but Father Pastells used none of these. He chose the hard way; he appealed to that in Rizal which was hardest, diamond-hard –- his mind.  For he knew that a faith based on anything else but conviction would be of no use to this man who lived solely by his convictions, and who would not hesitate to die for them.

Jesuits believe that their system of education is fashioned to produce men of this calibre, rational men, men whose faith, while fully supernatural, is based on reason.  Whether that system actually does so or not, is not for them to say.  But this certainly can be said: that if the schools of the free world do not produce such men in greater numbers than hitherto, that world is doomed.

We must have men of conviction, but they must also be men of faith.  Reason can go far, but there is a point beyond which it cannot go; the deepest questions that reason can ask, only faith can answer.  It was Father Pastells who raised these questions in the mind of Rizal, but it was Father Balaguer who answered them.  To the death cell in Fort Santiago came this simple man, came, not with subtle argument, not with the persuasive words of human wisdom, but with the word of God, sharp as a drawn sword, cutting deep, even to the marrow of the spirit, cutting and healing, slaying and giving life.  And the work that the learned Father Pastells began, this simple priest finished.  Yet not he, for what are these but men?  Poor, brittle instruments, of what avail are they, of themselves, in the titanic struggle of good and evil for the immortal soul?

No, not they, but God, in that lonely hour between dusk and dawn, between life and death, when Rizal sank to his knees at last with a strong cry and tears, in that lonely hour he was alone with the Alone, the man about to die with the God who died, and lives.

What folly even to think that such a man, at such an hour, could have been tricked into repentance!  If there was trickery in the business, God was the trickster; let them complain to God.  If there was trickery in the business, it was prayer that did the trick.

There was one man at least whose prayers were with Rizal continually, through all the years of doubt, all the years of agony, all the years of exile; that man was Father Sanchez.  Perhaps he was to blame for Rizal’s conversion.  At any rate, he was the most subtle Jesuit of them all, for he used against Rizal’s infidelity the one irresistible weapon; the power against which nothing is proof; the power of prayer.

“More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of”; and we like to think that among these good things is that fellowship of Ateneans with the Ateneo and of Ateneans among themselves, which not even death can break. For even in maturity, even when we are old, the mother of our youth yet has something to offer us; yes, four things, to all her alumni as to her greatest alumnus:  the plain truth, the path of reason, the light of faith, the love of friends.

Refuting the INC’s Erroneous “Bible-only” Doctrine

$

Yesterday, an INC friend, who we will hide by the name of GB, and I had a very interesting exchange of ideas regarding the correct basis of our faith. He forwarded the idea that it is the Bible only which should the basis of doctrine and faith.

A screen shot of his claim is posted here:

Screen Shot 2014-12-31 at 11.47.54 AM

2 Timothy 3:15–17

15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

JSB: This is a wrong doctrine and citing 2 Timothy 3:15–17 will not lend support to this wrong doctrine. And so I asked my friend GB:

1. Letra-por-letra, ano ba naka sulat sa 2 Timothy 3:15–17, is it BIBLE or SCRIPTURE? Later I will show you that Bible and Scripture as mentioned in 2 Timothy 3:15–17 are different. But answer my question first.

2. Letra-por-letra, saan naka sulat ang “alone” or “only”. Meron bang naka sulat dyan o wala?

For 2.5 hours and counting my friend GB avoided these very simple questions by providing answers to questions I did not ask. 2 simple questions, 2 simple answers, but 2.5 hours wasted.

The answers to my questions are very obvious, even a grade 1 pupil will be able to answer that. For Question number 1, what is written there is “scripture” not “bible” and for Question number 2, there is no word stating “only” or “alone” or in tagalong “lamang”.

Therefore, GB’s and INC’s doctrine of Bible only is un-Biblical! It is not supported by the Bible. Plain and simple. That is why for 2.5 hours GB tried to avoid my questions.

Here I will explain why 2 Timothy 3:15–17 does not support the “Bible only” doctrine of my friend GB, the INC (and other Protestant groups).

First

What is written is “All Scripture” not “Only Scripture”. My INC friend is attempting to change the words of the Bible. There is a big difference between All and Only. For example, all Filipinos eat rice, this is different from only Filipinos eat rice. The former is true while the latter is false. This is self explanatory and needs no further elaboration.

Second

The word used in 2 Timothy 3:16 is “useful” not “sufficient”. There is a big difference between these two words. For example, we can say that water is useful in order for us to live, but it is not sufficient. We also need other basic needs like food, shelter, clothing etc. Similarly, scripture is useful for us but it is not sufficient for it is not the only source of Christian teaching, we also need oral traditions and the teaching authority of the Church which Jesus Christ founded.

Third

GB and the INC has the mistaken notion that the “scripture” mentioned in 2 Timothy 3:15–17 is the Bible. This, my friends, is a mistaken belief.

St. Paul was referring to the Old Testament, this is pretty obvious by St Paul’s reference to the Scripture being known to Timothy from “infancy” (verse 15).

Fourth

When St. Paul wrote the letter to Timothy, the Bible as we know it today was not yet formed, there was no list of New Testament books yet during that time. The Bible which has 73 books was only formed during the Synod of Rome in 382 A.D. and reaffirmed in the Councils of Hippo in 393 and Carthage in 397 A.D. Prior to these Catholic Church councils, there was no list of New Testament, there was no definitive list of books of the Bible, thus there was no Bible.

MTE1ODA0OTcxNzA3MjM3OTAx

Martin Luther, the founder of the Protestant Movement. He deleted 7 books from the Bible

Then came Martin Luther, the Father of Protestantism, in the 16th century he removed 7 books from the Bible. Martin Luther removed 7 books of the Old Testament: Tobit, Judith, 1st & 2nd Maccabees, Wisdom, Sirach & Baruch. Protestants adopted and continue until the present day to use this list by Martin Luther, as such their Bible only has 66 books.

Luther removed 7 books from the Bible which up to now is being used by the INC and Protestants

Luther removed 7 books from the Bible which up to now is being used by the INC and Protestants

For almost 1,500 years, the early Christians have been using the Bible which has 73 books, and in the 16th century, out of nowhere and without authority, Martin Luther removed 7 books from the Bible. Unfortunately, Protestants and other groups like the INC continue to use this flawed Bible version which has only 66 books.

Now going back to the contention of my INC friend, it is clear that when 2 Timothy 3:15–17 mentioned “scripture”, it is not referring to the “Bible”. To repeat, the Bible only existed when the Synod of Rome in 382 A.D. accepted the 73 books in the Bible. Prior to 382 A.D. there was no Bible. Thus the “scripture” mentioned in 2 Timothy 3:15–17 is not the “Bible”.

GB:

1 Corinthians 4:6

Now, brothers and sisters, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying, “Do not go beyond what is written.” Then you will not be puffed up in being a follower of one of us over against the other.

JSB: Again 1 Cor 4:6 does not support the “Bible only” doctrine of the INC which GB adheres to. Unfortunately for my friend GB, it is St Paul who disagrees with him and the INC. I will explain why:

First

As explained earlier, the Bible existed only in 382 A.D., when St Paul wrote the letter to the Corinthians, there was no Bible yet. Thus, 1 Cor 4:6 does not refer to the Bible which does not exist yet during that time.

Second

1 Cor 4:6 does not support the “Bible only” belief of the INC. If St. Paul was referring to the books of the Bible then all books of the Bible written after the First Letter to the Corinthians (circa A.D. 56) should be rejected. Thus, if we follow GB and INC’s false doctrine, then Second Letter to the Corinthians, John’s Gospel, Acts, Romans, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, Philemon, Titus, 1 & 2 Timothy, Hebrews, James, 1 & 2 Peter, 1, 2, & 3 John, Jude, and Revelation would all have to be jettisoned as non-authoritative.

Third

This quote against “going beyond” also appears in Deuteronomy 12:32 “See that you do all I command you; do not add to it or take away from it.” If we follow the false understanding of the INC, then because of Deuteronomy 12:32, which is from an Old Testament book, then all New Testament books should also be rejected because it would violate Deuteronomy 12:32. Certainly, this is a false understanding of Deuteronomy 12:32 and 1 Cor 4:6.

Fourth

This “Bible-only” doctrine is a man-made doctrine which started only during the time of Martin Luther and is now being followed by the INC. Prior to Martin Luther, you could not find any theologian advocating this false doctrine.

Fifth

The Bible tells us that in addition to the written word, we should also accept oral tradition.

2 Thessalonians 2:14

So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.

Since 2 Thessalonians 2:14 clearly says that we must stand fast to the teachings that were handed also by oral tradition, then why does the INC do not follow this command from the Bible?

Sixth

The Bible says that the Church, not the Bible, is the “Pillar and Foundation of Truth”

1 Timothy 3:15

if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.

This passage does not diminish the importance of the Bible but it clearly shows that the Church is superior to the Bible. In fact, the Bible came from the Church and not vice-versa. The Bible came from the Catholic Church and not from the INC which only existed in 1914.

At least my INC friend is candid enough to admit the obvious that the Bible did not come from them:

Screen Shot 2014-12-31 at 11.58.40 AM

It is crystal clear from the above refutations that the “Bible-only” doctrine has no Biblical foundation/s, it is a man-made tradition which started only in the 16th century and adopted by the INC from the Protestant churches.

My friends, I exhort all of you to pray for my INC friend GB to return to the Catholic faith which he rejected and which he is now attacking. Let us pray that he will use his reason and good judgment to realize the truth from error. May the Lord Jesus Christ open his eyes, his hears and his mind to embrace the truth.

Meet ANGLICAN’S first 11-year-old female bishop in BRITAIN By Radhika Sanghani

Rebecca Howarth became a ‘girl bishop’ earlier this month, meaning that she’s technically Britain’s first ever female bishop. She tells Radhika Sanghani what she wants to achieve in her role

But, little does Mrs Lane know that an 11-year-old girl already beat her to the title of Britain’s female bishop.

Rebecca Howarth, a Manchester schoolgirl, became ‘girl bishop’ at the start of this month, meaning she will take charge of her local Oldham Parish Church this month, until the Epiphany on January 6.

The church has previously taken on a number of boy bishops for the annual tradition, where a youth bishop takes over from the serving Bishop of Manchester – but this is the first time that a girl has taken on the role. It follows the Church of England’s decision to allow women to become bishops.

Rebecca is thrilled. “I was really excited ever since I found out I was going to be girl bishop,” she tells me. “Really women are just as good as boys I think, they’re both equal to each other. If a boy can be bishop, I don’t see why girls can’t. I just believe that girls have a right to be as good as boys.”

She welcomes the CoE’s change in legislation, not just because it has made her position possible but because it is a move in the right step for equality. Even in her primary school, she has noticed that boys sometimes feel superior to the girls.

“If we get put into groups and they’re the only boy in the group, they have a bit of a huff and a sigh,” she explains. “Sometimes they think they’re more important than us.”

She wants boys to realise that they’re not, and hopes that her new role as girl bishop will help get that message across.

It’s why she jumped at the chance as soon as her priest suggested it to her mum: “Father Derek asked my mum if I wanted to think about it and as soon as I agreed it was announced in church. They’d decided it would be nice to have a girl. If I’d disagreed there were lots of others who would have done it.”

When she was chosen at the start of the month, she took over from the church’s current bishop in a traditional ceremony. “I had to lead a few prayers,” she says. “I had to literally pull a bishop out of his chair and sit on it myself. It’s tradition. It’s a really big honour.”

Rebecca ousting the Bishop from his chair

Rebecca ousting the Bishop from his chair

I ask her why she thinks that the church chose her for the honour, and she says it’s probably because she loves going to church so much: “I go to church every week on a Sunday. I’ve been going to church for as long as I can remember and I really enjoy Sunday School. We just have fun.”

Though she admits that she struggles with the Bible: “I find it hard to understand sometimes, with all the ‘thees’ and ‘thys’ and ‘hard words. The New Testament is supposed to be easier to understand than the Old Testament. I hear there’s someone called Rebecca so I’m interested in that.”

Rebecca relaxing after her bishop duties

Rebecca relaxing after her bishop duties

Bar the tough lexicon of the Bible, Rebecca really loves being a Christian: “I really like going to church. Sometimes before I became girl bishop I had a short prayer to read out. I like learning about God and Jesus and stuff. I think it’s really cool that there’s someone there watching us. It sort of reassures me. If you think about it when you’re feeling sad, it makes you feel better.”

She’s particularly excited to be leading the church at Christmas because the Nativity celebration is her favourite time of the year. But what Rebecca really hopes to do as girl bishop is help the congregation remember the real message behind Christmas.

“Everyone loves opening presents and eating Christmas dinner – I do it myself,” she says. “But it’s important to remember the real meaning and the story of what happened. It’s quite easy to get caught up in the presents and Father Christmases – most people get more excited about that than the real meaning. But it’s really up to other people what they do.”

Her family are thrilled by her position as girl bishop (bar her little sister who’s “feeling a bit left out”) but does this mean that Rebecca wants to follow in the footsteps of Ms Lane and become an adult bishop herself?

“I’m not really sure, maybe I’ll just wait and see what I have done as a youth bishop and think about it,” she says diplomatically. “I like writing stories, and I’d really like to be a writer, so we’ll see.” Watch this space.

While I was working in a muslim mosque as an imam, as a parish priest, I preach in my parish that Jesus Christ is not God, for me, God was only Allah, and I believed Allah never got married, so no sons for Allah. So I preached there that Jesus is not God. Then somebody ask me, who is Jesus?’’ from the crowd. Maybe a muslim, but he asked me, who is Jesus?’’ I was preaching he is not God, but the question is who is he? To know who is Jesus? I read the entire Koran once again: 114 chapters, 6666 in the Koran when I read it, the name of prophet Muhammad. I found it in Koran 4 places, but the name of Jesus I found in 25 places. There itself, I was a little confused. Why does the Koran give more preference to Jesus? And second thing, I could not see any woman’s name in Koran: the Prophet Muhammad’s mother’s name, or wife’s name, no, in the Koran, there is only one woman’s name that i found is Mariam, the mother of Jesus no other woman’s name. And in the holy Koran chapter 3, the name of the chapter is family of Mariam,’’ and holy Koran chapter 19, the name of the chapter itself is ‘’MARIAM’’ one chapter is ‘’MARIAM’’ so I was very curious to know why does Koran says all these things about MARIAM, holy Koran chapter 3 verse 34 onwards says that Mary was born without original sin, she never committed any sin in her life, she was ever virgin.

Koran chapter 50 verses 23 say that she went to heaven with her physical body. Even the assumption is writing in the holy Koran and then about Jesus, when I read chapter 3 verses 45 to 55 verses, there is 10 point which the Koran makes about Jesus. The first thing Koran says (kallimatulli) the arabic word which means ‘’the of God’’ and second thing is ( ahimokuli ) which mean spirit of God and the third (isa masi) which means Jesus Christ so Koran give the name for Jesus WORD OF GOD, SPIRIT OF GOD, JESUS CHRIST. And then Koran says that Jesus spoke when he was very small, like 2 days old. after his birth he began to speak , Koran says that Jesus created a live bird with mud. He took some mud, he formed a bird; when breathed into it, it became a live bird. So I think Jesus can give life because he gave life to mud, clay, and then Koran says that Jesus cured a man born blind and a man with leprosy, e.t.c

Curiously, the Koran says that Jesus gave life to dead people; Jesus went to heaven; he is still alive and he will come again. When I saw all these things in the Koran I taught of what Koran says about Muhammad, according to the Koran, prophet Muhammad is not the word of God, not spirit of God he never spoke when he was 2 days old, he never created any bird with mud, he never cure any sick people, he never raised any dead people, he himself died, and according to Islam he is not alive and he will not come back. So there is a lot of different between these two prophets. I didn’t call Jesus, God, you know my idea was ‘’He is a prophet but he is a prophet greater than Muhammad; so one day I went to my teacher, the one who taught me 10 years in Arabic college, and I ask him, teacher, how did God created the universe? Then he said God created the universe through the word,’’ THROUGH THE WORD. Then my question is: ‘’WORD’’ is creator or creation? He must clear this, my question is whether the WORD of God is creator or creation. Koran says Jesus is WORD of God. If my teacher says word of God is creator, which means Jesus is the creator, then muslim must become Christian suppose if he says the word is creation he will be trapped. You know why? He said everything was created through the word. Suppose if he said the word is creation, then how did God created the word? So he cannot say that the word is creator, or creation, so he was quite angry he push me out of his room and said word is not God, not creator or the creation you get out of here, ‘’he said

The reason why Muslim doesn’t accept to be Christian is because they are blinded with the wrong teaching of their priest, Imam. They said that the word is creation they try to prove it wrongly…… they say the word is not creator, not the creation, but not God. And no creation also. They don’t equal with God, that all their problem. So when he said that I told my teacher, word is not the creator or the creation.’’ So, that is why Christian says the word is son of God. Then he told me if there is son for God, I must show him the wife of God. That without wife no chance of having a son then I showed him a portion from the Koran. Koran says that God can see without eyes, God can talk without tongue, God can hear without ears. It is writing in the Koran. I said if that is the case, so God can have a child without a wife. I took my Koran, I put it on my chest, and I said ‘’Allah’’, tell me what I should do because your Koran says Jesus is still alive, and Mohammad is no more. Tell me whom should I accept.’’ after my prayer I opened the Koran, I didn’t asked anyone, I asked only my Allah. When I opened Koran, I saw chapter 10 verses 94. You know what Koran says? It says if you have any doubt in this Koran which I give to you, go and read the Bible, or ask the people, those who read the Bible. The truth is already revealing that.

I beg all muslim to give their life to Christ because he is the only way to the kingdom of God. Please don’t perish like other muslims that is serving the god they do not know. I welcome you into Christ Jesus as you change your mind to accept him today. God bless you.

THREE WAYS JESUS READ THE BIBLE THAT EVANGELICALS ARE NOT TOLD TO DO

Open Holy BibleThree Ways Jesus Read the Bible That Evangelicals Are Told Not to Do

For Evangelicals–and I’m among them–Jesus as well as the Bible are high on the priority list. Not just evangelicals but all Christians believe Jesus is the Savior, and that the Bible tells us about him.

But watching how these two priorities come together–watching how Jesus read his Bible (the Christian Old Testament)–can create some awkward moments, because Jesus read his Bible in ways evangelicals are taught over and over again not to read it.

1. Jesus didn’t stick to what “the Bible says,” but read it with a creative flare that had little if any connection to what the biblical writer actually meant to say.
Evangelicals are told to respect the Bible by “sticking to the text” and not go beyond it. Jesus did the opposite.

For example, in the book of Exodus (chapter 3), God speaks to Moses from a burning bush. This being the first encounter, God introduces himself (verse 6): “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.” In other words, “The one speaking to you, Moses, is none other than the God of your ancestors, and I’ve got a very big job for you: go down to Egypt and bring my people out of slavery.”

Enter Jesus. We find him in Luke’s Gospel (chapter 20) debating a religious party known as the Sadducees. One of their beliefs is that after you die, you’re worm food. Other Jews, including Jesus, were of the Pharisee party. They believed that God will one day raise the dead.

So to prove his point–that the Sadducees were wrong and God does indeed raise the dead–Jesus recites the verse from Exodus above, where God introduces himself to Moses.

There isn’t a “deeper meaning” to Exodus 3:6. God is just introducing himself to Moses. It’s not code for “I will raise the dead.”

What Jesus is doing here wouldn’t sit well with most Christians if, say, their pastor got up and preached like this. They’d ask him or her to try and stick to the text better and if not to start looking for another line of work.

But what Jesus does here in Luke’s Gospel, however strange it seems to us, was par for the course in early Judaism. Luke tells us some of the scribes were very impressed with Jesus’s ability to handle the Bible so well!

For Jesus, as for his fellow Jews, the Bible was ready and willing to be handled in creative ways to yield new and unexpected meanings that go far beyond what those words mean when they were first written.

2. Jesus felt he could “pick and choose” what parts of the Old Testament were valid and which weren’t.
Evangelicals are taught in no uncertain terms that the Bible is a package deal. Believing what the Bible says isn’t like being on a buffet line where you “pick and choose” what you like. Yet, that’s what Jesus did.

For example, we have the famous Sermon on the Mount in Matthew’s Gospel. Jesus on a mountain speaking to those gathered around him. Several times he quotes something from the Law of Moses and then contrasts what the Law says (“you have heard it said) with a teaching of his own (“but I say to you”).

We shouldn’t lose sight of the larger idea here: Jesus is acting like Moses. He is on a mountain declaring to the people what God commands of them. The “Sermon on the Mount” isn’t really a sermon at all. For one thing no one was bored listening to it. Jesus’s words were a public declaration that, now that he was here, there were going to be a few changes made.

At some points in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus simply expands what his Bible said–like murder being more than not just physical but also emotional (anger) and verbal (insults). But Jesus also claims that some parts of the Bible over and done and it’s time to head in a new direction.

Moses may have allowed for divorce for all sorts of reasons, but Jesus said divorce was only allowed in the case of unfaithfulness.

God told Moses that Israelites were to make solemn oaths to one another (sort of a binding contract), but Jesus said the true people of God shouldn’t make any oaths. “Let your word be ‘Yes, Yes or ‘No, no'; anything more than this comes from the evil one.”

God told Moses that crimes were punished an “eye for an eye” (to insure the punishment fit the crime) but Jesus said to turn the other cheek rather than seek restitution. In doing so, they would be truly following the will of God.

Jesus taught that some of what God said in the Old Testament was inadequate, and real obedience to God mean it was time to move on. If evangelical pastors or professors pulled moves like this, they’d be working second shift at Target before the week was out.

3. Jesus read his Bible as a Jew, not an evangelical (or even a Christian).
As much as this might not need to be said, it does. When we watch Jesus read his Bible, we are watching a Jewish man reading his Bible. His creative flare and even his “debating” with his own Bible and going in a different direction were part of what it meant to read the Bible in Jesus’s Jewish world.

That doesn’t mean Jesus didn’t revere the Bible. He did. But he revered it in Jewish ways, not evangelical ways.

And that may be the hardest lesson for evangelicals to learn, that Jesus did not agree with things about the Bible that evangelicals take for granted and consider non-negotiable–like “stick to the text” and, “God’s word is eternal and never changes.”

If evangelicals (and I am among them) pay attention to Jesus, they will learn a vital lesson: Our own Bible shows us that getting the Bible right isn’t the center of the Christian faith. Getting Jesus right is.

VATICAN – WORLD MISSION DAY – CATHOLIC CHURCH STATISTICS 2014

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – As every year, in view of World Mission Day, this year celebrated on Sunday, October 19, Fides News Service offers some statistics chosen to give a panorama of the missionary Church all over the world. The tables are taken from the latest edition of the “Church’s Book of Statistics” published (updated to 31 December 2012) regarding members of the Church, church structures, healthcare, welfare and education. Please note that variations, increase or decrease, emerging from our own comparison with last year’s figures, are marked increase + or decrease – in brackets.

THE FALSE TEACHING OF BORN AGAIN BAPTIST PASTOR EMILIO A. BALLESTEROS, JR. ON THE MOTHER OF GOD DEBUNKED BY ATTY. MARWIL N. LLASOS IN HIS BOOK “DEFENDING MARY OUR MOTHER”

Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: but when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. (Gal 4:3-5, King James Version)

Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: but when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. (Gal 4:3-5, King James Version)

The false teaching of Born Again Baptist Pastor Emilio A. Ballesteros, Jr., the defiler of the Mother of God:

Excerpts from: IMPORTANT QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS BY EMILIO A. BALLESTEROS, JR. p. 24:

Mars' Book617. IS MARY THE “MOTHER OF GOD”?

  • If God, who is the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, has a mother, then the Bible is nothing but a book of lies! God could not be a real God if He came from a mother! Eternity simply means having no beginning and no end! How in the world could a God of eternity have a mother?
  • It is more correct and sensible to call her “mother of Jesus.” Look into the following verses and see how she was properly addressed: Mat. 1:18; 2:11,13,14,20,21; 12:46,47; Mk. 3:31,32; Lk. 2:34; 8:19,20; Jn. 2:1,3,12; 6:42; 19:26. Nowhere in the Bible can you find the phrase “mother of God.”  It was used in AD 431 at the Council of Ephesus.”  Read TRUTH ENCOUNTER by Anthony Pezzota, a former Italian priest who became a biblical Christian and later worked with Baptists in the Philippines.

The true teaching of Catholic Apologist and Mariologist Atty. Marwil N. Llasos, the defender of the Mother of God:

Excerpts from DEFENDING MARY OUR MOTHER VOLUME 1 BY MARWIL N. LLASOS, O.P., pp. 24-32:

Mars' Book7

Reformers

Classical Protestantism regarded Mary as the Mother of God.  Despite the break from Rome, nearly all Protestant reformers held the historic doctrine on Mary’s Divine Maternity.  Mary remained to them as the Theotokos – the God- bearer.

The man who started the Protestant Reformation, Martin Luther, was deeply devoted to the Mother of God.  Even after his publication of the Ninety Five Theses in 1517, Martin Luther’s high view of Mary was not significantly altered.  For the former Augustinian monk, she is “preeminent among all God’s creation only because God chose her to be the mother of his son.”

Far from discarding the ancient and traditional belief in Mary as Mother of God, Martin Luther affirmed and emphatically preached it.  Martin Luther said:

God is born …  the child who drinks his Mother’s milk is eternal; he existed before the world’s beginning and he created heaven and earth…. these two natures are so united that there is only one God and Lord, that Mary suckles God with her breasts, bathes God, rocks him, and carries him.

Throughout his life, Martin Luther used and defended Mary’s title Theotokos.  Luther argued:

She is rightly called not only the mother of the man, but also the Mother of God … It is certain that Mary is the Mother of the real and true God.

According to the founder of Protestantism and faith alone theology, Mary “is the model of by faith alone through grace alone.”  In the Sermon Preached at Erfurt on the Journey to Worms, John 20:19-20, April 7, 1521, Martin Luther maintained that even “the holy mother of God did not become good, was not saved, by her virginity or by her purity or her motherhood, but rather by the will of faith and the works of God, and not by her purity, or by her own works.”

God indeed chose and prepared Mary and filled her with His grace alone to be His mother.  In his Commentary on the Magnificat, Martin Luther expressed:

Men have crowded all her glory into a single phrase: the Mother of God.  No one can say anything greater of her, though he had as many tongues are there are leaves on the trees.

It is clear that for Martin Luther, all praise and glory to Mary is summed up in her title as Mother of God:

In this work whereby she was made the Mother of God, so many and such great good things were given her that no one can grasp them … Not only was Mary the mother of him who is born [“in Bethlehem”], but of him who, before the world, was eternally born of the Father, from a Mother in time and at the same time man and God.

Another reformer, John Calvin is considered to be the most systematic of the Reformed theologians and the most guarded about Mary.  Yet he also held Mary’s Divine Maternity:

It cannot be denied that God in choosing and destining Mary to be the Mother of his Son, granted her the highest honor … Elizabeth called Mary Mother of the Lord, because the unity of the person in the two natures of Christ was such that she could have said that the mortal man engendered in the womb of Mary was at the same time the eternal God.

Among the last Reformed theologians to treat at length the Blessed Virgil Mary was Charles Drelincourt, pastor of the Reformed church of Paris.  He wrote:

We do not simply believe that God has favored the holy and blessed Virgin more than all the Patriarchs and the Prophets, but also that he has exalted her above all Seraphim … The holy Virgin is not only the servant and the creature, but also the Mother of this great and living God.

Although Protestant reflection on Mary weakened further from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century, there were nevertheless some references on Mary in Reformed confessions.  The Formula of Concord of 1576 defended the title “Mother of God” and the reality of Mary’s motherhood.   Dr. Tim Perry reports that Mary “is similarly treated in Reformed confessions.”

Contemporary Protestants

With the resurgence of Protestant interest on Mary as reported by Time, contemporary Protestant writers are beginning to write more favorably about her.  Protestants are giving a second look on Mary and her Divine Maternity.  With this recent development, there is reason to hope for a more fruitful ecumenical dialogue between Catholics and Protestants.  As it now seems, Mary is no longer a stumbling block to Christian unity – she fosters it.

Very Rev. Dr. H.W.M. Tajra, a Lutheran member of the Ecumenical Society of the Blessed Virgin Mary, commenting on the intercessory verse of the Ave Maria added after the formal break between the Lutheran and Roman Catholic Churches, stated –

We contemplate here the role of the Blessed Virgin Mary within the Communion of Saints which we confess in the Apostle’s Creed.  Just as all Christians ask other Christians to pray for them in a common cry for help (auxilium) from our Lord, so too the faithful should ask the Mother of God for her prayers, she who lives everlastingly in the Kingdom of Heaven, in that (to us) invisible realm which we confess in the Nicene Creed.  We pray to our Lady to look with mercy and pity on our human deficiencies.  This is the great lesson which St. John taught in the second chapter of his Gospel when he related the great Sign at the wedding at Cana in Galilee, In that pericope, the Evangelist drew a mighty portrait of her essential ministry – a ministry springing out of that motherhood and rooted entirely to it – her ministry of Mediatrix of the living grace which is Jesus Christ her Son, and Mediatrix of all the graces which he, in his divine power and glory and total sovereignty, chooses to accord as a result of her prayer to him.  These graces, which the Blessed Mother of God mediates, were symbolized in the story of the miracle at Cana by the abundant and heady Messianic wine poured out at the wedding feast, poured out by Jesus Christ our Lord so that his disciples and the world beyond might believe.

In Jesus Called Her Mother, Evangelical writer Dee Jepsen, wife of former U.S. Senator Roger Jepsen, noted –

Throughout the church’s early centuries, Mary was regarded as the “mother of God” by all believers, This title was given to her not to elevate her, but to emphasize the truth that Jesus Christ was truly God and truly man, a doctrine under attack.

Dee Jepsen cited leading Evangelical scholar Kenneth Kantzer’s comment on the practice of calling Mary the Mother of God:

While the phrase may be awkward, Protestants generally have agreed that it is faithful to the real sense of Scripture, and that to deny it is to suggest that we really do not believe in the full deity of Him who was born of Mary.

Evangelical author Scot McKnight shares the same observation in his book The Real Mary.  McKnight noted that –

Roman Catholics have never hesitated to call Mary the “mother of God.”  The expression gives evangelicals alarm.  Should it?  If Jesus is God and Mary is his mother, then Mary is the mother of God.  Please note, “mother of God” does not mean the one who existed before God and gave birth to God, but the one who “carried” God in her womb as the “God- bearer.”  It is reasonable to connect Jesus to God, Mary to Jesus and Mary as mother of God, but the Protestant impulse is sola scripture: “to the Bible we go first.”

Having said thus, McKnight asked the question: “Does the New Testament teach that Mary is the “mother of God”?”  The Evangelical author proceeded answer his own question:

Elizabeth asked this of Mary: “But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?” Mother of God, Mother of the Lord – is there a difference?  For most of us, it is far easier to speak of Mary as the “mother of the Lord” than to speak of her as the “mother of God.”  Still, we have to admit that there is some biblical support for calling Mary “mother of God” or “mother of the Lord.”

Scot McKnight traced the history of the expression “mother of God” in this wise:

What we can agree on is that the expression “mother of God” played a very significant role in one of the major clashes in the development of our orthodox Christian understanding of Jesus Christ, the Second Person of the trinity.  In AD 431, the Council of Ephesus addressed the teachings of Nestorius, who maintained that Mary gave birth to a man named Jesus but that she did not give birth to the Word.  In effect, Nestorius divided Jesus into a God part and a human part.  The Council of Ephesus disagreed and settled for a major, major conclusion: Jesus’ deity and humanity, his two natures, were perfectly fused into one person, so that Jesus was not both God and man but the God-man.  If Jesus is the God-man of one person and not just God and man, then Mary gave birth to the single person who is the God-Man.  If she did, then Mary is in some sense the “God-bearer” and not simply the “Christ-bearer” (as Nestorius thought).

McKnight further observed:

The expression “God-bearer” soon shifted into the expression “mother of God.”  So, when theologians speak of “mother of God” they mean “God-bearer.”  We Protestants can, and rightfully should, stand with the whole Church on the importance of what the Council of Ephesus decided.  If “Mother of God” means “God-bearer” as the one who gave birth to the human Jesus, who as a single person was the God-man, then we can also stand together with Roman Catholics in affirming Mary as the ”Mother of God.”

As Protestant, Scot McKnight expressed his apprehension over the title Mother of God and clarified –

For many of us neither the “God-bearer” nor “Mother of God” is the issue.  The question we ask is this: Does addressing Mary as “mother of God” involve veneration, adoration, and devotion of Mary as well?  Does it get mixed up with “Wife of God” or even “Mother of the Trinity”?  Does it result in giving attention to Mary or does it, as it originally was intended to do, give attention to Jesus Christ as fully God and fully human as the God-man?  Because of the implications of what “mother of God” might mean, most Protestants shy away from calling Mary the “mother of God,” but we should have no hesitation in referring to Mary as the God-bearer.

In the scholarly theological field, Dr. Tim Perry proposed the Theotokos as “ground of Mariology.”  Thinking that Mariology naturally arises from Christology, Dr. Perry posited that “the point at which Mariology and Christology intersect is the confession of Mary as Theotokos, Mother of God.”  However, Dr. Perry admitted that such assertion is “not uncontroversial and must therefore be unpacked further.”

After demolishing the misconceptions and fallacies on the title Mother of God, Dr. Tim Perry discussed the historical circumstances that led to the title in the Council of Ephesus in 431 AD.  Thus –

… The councils of Nicaea (325) and Constantinople (381) affirmed that the Son of God was of one substance with the Father, was incarnate by the Holy Spirit and was born of the Virgin Mary.  And it was Cyril’s conviction that, by assuming all that being human is in the manner described by Nicaea, God the Son redeemed humanity.

Prescinding therefrom, the Evangelical scholar proceeded:

From this perspective he [“Cyril”] spotted that, whatever the legitimacy of Nestorius’ worries, his position had the undesirable effect of sundering the humanity and divinity in the incarnation, effectively creating two sons in the one Jesus Christ.  If Nestorius’ views were to win the day, then Nicaea would ultimately have to be repudiated for, even if Nestorius himself did not recognize it, his argument led to a devastating conclusion.  On the one hand the human son of Mary was born, grew, suffered, died and rose, while on the other hand the divine Son of God remained eternal, impassible and (crucially) consequently uninvolved in the human condition.  To maintain this position, Cyril countered, was to deny the Nicene conviction that the Son of God actually assumed a human nature.  If Christians cannot confess that the incarnate was conceived and born of Mary, then God has not embraced their lot and they are not saved.  To put it in the starkest of terms, if Mary did not bear God in her womb – if she is not Theotokos – human beings are not saved.

To elucidate the point, Dr. Tim Perry presented the Greek metaphysical terminology of natures and persons from Cyril of Alexandria’s point of view:

Cyril’s theological worry, as expressed in the metaphysic available to him, has to do with the identity of the subject of the Gospels and just how we predicate actions or states to that subject.  When we read, for instance, that Jesus became enraged and drove the merchants out of the temple, are we reading about a man or a God?  When we read that he suffered death, are we reading about his humanity or divinity?  Cyril’s answer is that the Gospels predicate anger (or any other human emotion) and death (or any other human limitation) neither to a human nature nor to a divine one, but to a person.  And that person is the incarnate God.  We cannot dissect the Gospels seeking to attribute this or that emotion or act to either Jesus’ humanity or divinity, we predicate them instead to the one fully divine, fully human person.  The Gospels are God’s own human story.  The conclusion is now inescapable.  If God the Son entered human time and space as a human being and he did so by taking on the humanity given to him by his mother; then Mary is the Mother of God.  No less a title will do.

Wrapping up, Evangelical professor and theologian Dr. Tim Perry queried: “How can we evangelical Protestants be true to the witness of Scripture and avoid joining our voices with those of Gabriel and Elizabeth and generations of Christians thereafter who name her blessed?”  Dr. Perry argued: “Once it is granted that Theotokos encapsulates a profoundly biblical concept necessary for a fuller understanding of the identity of Jesus Christ, we ground Mariology … “

Mother of God explained

Catholics believe that Mary is the Mother of God (Theotokos].  This dogma of faith safeguards the truth about the full divinity of Christ.  Jesus is truly God and so we call his mother the Mother of God.  Peter M. Gerard comments –

Without stating that Mary is Theotokos, the Church would not be able to teach that Jesus is Theantropos, the God-man possessing a fully human and fully divine nature united in the one divine person.

How can a woman, a mere human being, be God’s mother?  To remove the confusion, clarification is in order by stating what the title Mother of God does not mean:

  1. Mary is not the mother of God the Father. If that were so, she would be the grandmother of Jesus Christ.
  2. Mary is not the mother of the Holy Spirit because the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son; thus, he has no father or mother. The Holy Spirit was never incarnate.
  3. Mary is not the mother of the Godhead because God is eternal and infinite whereas Mary is a mere creature; hence, finite.
  4. Mary is not the mother of Christ as to his divinity because as God, the Word existed from all eternity – even before Mary was born. As to his divinity, God the Son has no mother – he only has a father, God the Father.  Similarly, as to his humanity, God the Son has no earthly father – he only has a mother, Mary of Nazareth.

Why then do we say that Mary is Mother of God?  Catholic Answers responds –

A woman is a man’s mother either if she carried him in her womb or if she contributed half of his genetic matter or both.  Mary was the mother of Jesus in both of these senses; because she not only carried Jesus in her womb but also supplied all of the genetic matter for his human body, since it was through her – not Joseph – that Jesus “was descended from David according to the flesh” (Rom. 1:3).  Since Mary is Jesus’ mother, it must be concluded that she is also the Mother of God …

Although Mary is the Mother of God, she is not his mother in the sense that she is older than God or the source of her Son’s divinity, for she is neither.  Rather, we say that she is the Mother of God in the sense that she carried in her womb a divine person – Jesus Christ, God “in the flesh” (2 John 7, if.cf. John I:14) – and in the sense that she contributed the genetic matter to the human form God took in Jesus Christ.

Fr. Kenneth Baker, SJ likewise explains:

Thus, in Jesus there is one Person but two natures – a human nature taken from Mary and the divine nature which is common to Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Since a mother gives birth not just to a human nature but to a person, it can be said with full truth that Mary is the Mother of God.  For, Jesus is not a human person; he is a divine Person who has taken himself a human nature.

In brief, the Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches:

Mary is truly “Mother of God” since she is the mother of the eternal Son of God made man, who is God himself.

Dr. Jeffrey Schwehm: A Jehovah’s Witness Who Became a Catholic – The Journey Home (05-10-2004)

Published on Dec 31, 2014

Jeff was raised a Lutheran until his parents became Jehovah’s Witnesses when he was six years old. He became very active with the Witnesses and even left his home to work full-time at Bethel, the Watch Tower headquarters, in Brooklyn, New York. He met he future wife there and returned home to New Orleans to be married. Before leaving Bethel, he began to have doubts about Jehovah’s Witness teaching. He would sneak into the Loyola University library to read about Church History. Later, while working on his Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Jeff and his wife joined the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, where they began to speak about the problem of cults on the radio. After reading the “Diary of St. Faustina” on Divine Mercy, Jeff and his wife were received into the Catholic Church in 2003.

BOCAUE, Bulacan—Fans of American rap singer Chris Brown, outraged over his canceled show at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan, sought immediate refund of tickets from the organizers on Wednesday night.

But as of posting, the organizers, through representatives from the Iglesia ni Cristo, the Arena owners, said they had yet to come up with a solution for the “unexpected” cancellation of the show.

Many fans who sought refund had bought VIP tickets worth around P3,000.

These fans of Chris Brown flew straight from Yemen and Africa just to see him perform at the Philippine Arena. To their dismay, the American hip-hop artist canceled his performance. Photo by: Julliane Love de Jesus/INQUIRER.net

Brown was to be the main act in the “2015 Philippine Countdown” event at the Philippine Arena in Ciudad de Victoria in Bocaue, Bulacan. The event also features local artists including Bamboo, Sam Concepcion, Enrique Gil, KZ Tandingan and the Japanese girl group Tempura Kidz.

The countdown would include a pyromusical display promised to be the “brightest and most spectacular” in the country.

In behalf of the organizers Maligaya Development Corporation, Bro. Armand Sorbito pacified the irate fans.

Sorbito gave his contact number to the complainants and signed their tickets to assure them that they could contact him once the organizers came up with options.

As Sorbito negotiated with the disappointed fans, security personnel of the Philippine Arena asked INQUIRER.net to stop taking videos of the incident.

But one of the fans, John Andrew Mon, insisted that he be interviewed so “their complaints would be heard.”

Mon said the organizers should have at least informed them that Brown would not be showing up.

Mon and his companions, Jasmin Maglaque and Michael Concepcion, who said they have been fans of the rap singer for years, took a cab from Makati City.

Maglaque said a video of Brown was shown after the performance of a local band.

“The video was dark. It’s as if the video was taped through a video call. He apologized to the fans saying he couldn’t make it to the Philippines because he left his passport,” Maglaque said.

“As soon as the performances started, we had a hunch that Chris Brown wouldn’t come. Hindi man lang siya binabanggit sa (His name wasn’t being mentioned in the) line-up,” she added.

“We bought our tickets just to watch Chris Brown. We wouldn’t spend that much if it weren’t for him,” Maglaque said.

Yemeni fans

Before INC representatives spoke to the fans, the group of Themo Khudhair, Osama Alsharfy and Saud Mohamed Ali, all from Yemen, went around the Philippine Arena looking for the organizers of the show to seek refund of their tickets, but failed to. Angered, they tore up their tickets and tossed them into the garbage bin.

While many of the Yemenis and Africans who came for the Brown concert are studying in the Philippines, some flew into the Philippines just for the concert.

“We stayed at a hotel for days, paid a taxi P3,000 to get here, bought tickets for P1,000 and we get nothing?” the visibly irked Ali said.

One of them, in utter disgust, flashed the dirty finger when asked to give a message for the American artist.

After failing to have their tickets refunded, Khudhair said they would just go back to Manila to join the New Year countdown in the Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

Brown, 24, has been in and out of jail and rehab after a series of complaints against him including the assault on his ex-girlfriend and Barbadian singer Rihanna.

And because this is supposedly a big event, the main performer must have been in the area at least one day before para mag practice sa venue, magcheck sa sounds and visuals, lights, etc.

.
PASUGO Disyembre 1956, pahina 17; (patula)

“ANG KAPANGANAKAN NG SINUGO”

At sa huling kaarawang nalalapit na ngang ganap;
Ang dakilang paghuhukom ng Dios sa taong lahat;
Sa pagibig ni Bathalang ang tao ay maligtas;
Sa hula ay pinabangon ang Sugo sa Pilipinas;
Siya ay si Kapatid Felix Manalo ang tawag;

…from the pen of Augustine Joseph Roth
converted to Catholicism from Baptist Ministry

” Shall I ever forget the time when I stood before the Blessed Sacrament for the first time? I knew nothing of the Catholic doctrine on the Real Presence of Christ, yet I felt that Presence. There was a calm and peace that I did not feel in my own church. More than a score of men and women were in this church at that time. The quiet calm that pervaded the atmosphere, assured me that they were at peace with God. Here, the words, “My peace I leave you” were not without meaning. I had never before seen the inside of a Catholic church, and I was surprised to see so many people there, for it was neither Sunday nor Wednesday evening…. In the Catholic Church I found a Bible that was untampered with and with that, tradition, for the Catholic Church has been witness since the day when Christ walked on earth; she was present at the Last Supper, when the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist was instituted; she was present when Christ stood before Pilate; she was present at the Crucifixion and again at the Resurrection; she was with the first Christians in the Catacombs; in their prisons of shame; in the arenas of torture. Through nearly two thousand years she has steered a straight course through the cold and barren peaks of bigotry and prejudice. She has seen nations rise to the peak of power and then fall into decay. Countless thousands have come forth, like the leaves of a forest, to hurl their grain of sand against the solid rock on which her Divine Founder placed her, and like the leaves of a forest they have withered and fallen. She has lived to see those who persecuted her strut their brief moment and then perish, and she will live on and on, the greatest civilizing force the world has even known, for she has the promise of Christ ” And lo, I am with you, all days, even unto the consummation of the world. . . .”

The Holy Spirit proceeding from the Father

The Holy Spirit proceeding from the Father

+++
Sagot: IISA LANG PO ANG DIYOS NATIN NA MAY TATLONG PERSONA.

HOLY SPIRIT IS FULLY GOD THUS POSSESS ALL THE ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTES OF GOD. Holy Spirit has INNATE HOLINESS. The Holy Spirit is UNLIMITED IN TIME(eternality), SPACE(omnipresence), POWER(omnipotence), & KNOWLEDGE(omniscience). The Holy Spirit is eternal(John 14:16; Heb. 9:14), omnipresent(Psalm 139:7-8), omnipotent(Job 33:4; Psalm 104:30), and omniscient(1Cor. 2:10;John 14:26).

Ang Espiritu Santo po ay may KATAUHAN. Holy Spirit is not a mystical force but a divine person. Holy Spirit has mind/intelligence(1Cor. 2:10-11), emotions(Eph. 4:30), and will(1Cor. 12:7-11).

GAYUNDIN PO KUNG SUSURIIN ANG 1COR. 3:16 at 6:19.
