I just would like to share what Reverend Father Russell Bantiles wrote to me when I informed him about our meeting with Archbishop Palma on the God died issue. I hope that what Father Bantilles wrote will shed more light to this issue.
He says: In all of this, I’m glad that our faith is still touching lives as it did to the Christians in the first 7 centuries. It is a great thing! I would go with the archbishop’s words…”real” not figurative. How do we express in our language what is “real”? By using plain language… not figurative language. If it was real (and we hold it is) that Jesus died and it is real also that Jesus is God, then by logic and really (literally) God died…. not that the divinity died. Those who oppose it i think understood it but they prefer not to accept it… remember Arius?
