In relation with this, Ms. Jedidiah Kasayan Singco, a Psychology Instructor from the University of the Visayas, asked some questions in order to clarify things and issues about the Garden of Eden.

Below are the questions with corresponding answers.

Ms. Jedidiah Kasayan Singco:

“Does the Garden of Eden really exist?”

Answer:

Yes, the Garden of Eden really exist.

Gen 2:8,15

“Then the LORD God planted a garden in Eden in the east, and there he placed the man he had made. The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.”

Ms. Jedidiah Kasayan Singco:

“Where does the Garden of Eden located?”

Answer:

Well according to Gen 2:8 that it was located in the east, but the location itself was not specific because during the time of Adam and Eve, there was no geographical map created at that time. Also, there were many places not yet discovered during the time of Adam and eve, but we are very sure that Garden of Eden really exist as stated in Gen 2:8,15.

However, we can say that the Garden of Eden was much affected and destroyed because of the worldwide flood that happened during the time of Noah (Gen 7:1-24), and even St. Peter mentioned about this matter also (2 Pet 3:6).

Ms. Jedidiah Kasayan Singco:

“How come that the Garden of Eden was destroyed through worldwide flood (Gen 7:1-24) since we knew that there were cherubims and a flaming sword placed in order that no one can go near to the tree of life (Gen 3:24)?”

Answer:

It’s true that there were cherubims and a flaming sword placed in order that no one can go near to the tree of life (Gen 3:24), but it was not even stated in that verse that the garden of Eden and the Tree of Life will not be affected by the worldwide flood that happened during the time of Noah (Gen 7:1-24).

The cherubims and the flaming sword didn’t stay there forever since the Garden of Eden was destroyed because of the worldwide flood. It’s useless for the cherubims and the flaming sword to guard that place were in the first instance that it was already destroyed. It’s just like you’re guarding for nothing.

Ms. Jedidiah Kasayan Singco:

“Is Garden of Eden the same with Heaven or what they called Paradise?”

Answer:

No, they are different from each other.

Garden of Eden: Garden created by God in the east where he let Adam and Eve live (Gen 2:8) but he sent them out when they ate the forbidden fruit (Gen 3:22-24).

Heaven: Home of God, Angels, and Saints. It is a place where everything there are holy, cannot feel sadness and pain, no need to have light there because it is God who gives them light. It is also a place intended to those who keep the faith and pleasing in the eyes of God. No unclean or sin can enter in Heaven (Rev 21:22-27).

Paradise: It is also known as the other term for Heaven (2 Cor 12:3, Lk 23:43).

Ms. Jedidiah Kasayan Singco:

“Garden of Eden submerged in the location of the Bermuda Triangle and it could be the possible cause for the strange things happen. Is it true?”

Answer:

Garden of Eden has nothing to do with the Bermuda Triangle. Well until now Bermuda Triangle is still a theory.

Both the Magisterium of the Church and the Bible does not speak about that, It is only God who knows everything (Heb 4:12-13) and his ways are different from ours (Isa 55:8).

Accidents in the ocean/sea might happened due to technical problems, bad weather condition, carelessness, and other errors. The only thing we can do is to check everything and don’t forget to pray always (Eph 6:18).
