Why can’t we change our sexuality or sexual identity?
1. We can’t change our sexual identity because it is God-given, essentially embedded in our human nature. We are either male or female.
2. One can legally or socially assume a new sexual identity but he or she can never morally alter his or her sexuality.
3. Social acceptability is not the measure of morality. What is socially or culturally acceptable may not necessarily be morally admissible.
4. The genital organ is an inherent part of sexuality. However, sexuality cannot be equated with genitality for sexuality is not purely something biological or corporeal but spiritual.
5. One can opt to have his or her sexual organ or other parts of his or her body changed, so that “he” may now become “she” or “she” may now become “he” but sexuality can never be altered for it is a fundamental and essential component of one’s personality, which is inscribed by God in the very nature of every man and woman.
God bless.
