here are the following question’s for catholi’cs
Eucharist
1.When Jesus instituted the supper, he had not yet been crucified. How then was the Eucharist his crucified body and blood?
2.If, as the Roman Catholic Church teaches, that the Eucharist Wine is the literal blood of Christ, then how is that not violating the Old Testament law against drinking the blood of any flesh (Lev. 17:14)?
3.How is it possible for the Eucharist to be the actualy body and blood of Christ if, by definition, a human body is only in one place at one time as Jesus’ body was in the incarnation, especially when you realize that Jesus is still a man (1 Tim. 2:5; Col. 2:9).
Now to answer your questions:
1) We do not say that the Eucharist is the crucified body of Christ, but the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ. We believe that the events from the Last Supper to His Resurrection are eternal or everlasting in their effects, hence they are outside of time. So when we celebrate the Eucharist, we are not re-scarificing Christ, but making Calvary present.
2) Jesus is the fulfillment of the Old Law, so no he didn’t break the commandment. Rather, he fulfilled it. Jesus declared all food clean (Mk 7:19); the dietary restrictions of the OT has passed away ” Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink ” (Col 2:17, 16); Jesus said to actually drink his blood so that we may have life in us (Jn 6:53); and finally 3) Jesus, is God, God is Ominipresent and Omnipotent. Jesus is True God and True Man. He’s not “once man, then God.” Go figure.
