The Core of CFD Manila led by Atty. Marwil Llasos and CFD Board of Governor Member Manny Protacio
The formation took place in the Children of Light headquarters in Recto, Manila. Our classroom was the studio of the TV program “Know the Truth”. It began with a rosary and proceeded with a beautiful endorsement letter from Ricardo Cardinal Vidal which is read aloud by Bro. Marwil Llasos. We proceeded to introduce ourselves by giving out our names, the parish and diocese which we belong, our involvement in the church, our background in Apologetics, and the reason why we engaged ourselves in apologetics. After an hour long introduction, Peter Garcia, Producer of “Know the Truth” in TV Maria, welcomed the group and expressed his gratitude for the positive feedback of the TV program. He also expressed his support for the group. After that, Bro. Manny Protacio [CFD National Board of Governor Member] and Bro. Gerry Valenzuela proceeded to introduce themselves to the group and gave us a background on how they started as apologists.

Then Bro. Marwil gave us a short background of the lesson and proceeded to discuss our topic which is “Introduction to Apologetics”. He emphasized that we should always remember the verse 1 Peter 3:15, stating that we should always prepare ourselves to defend the faith by studying and learning about it through the Catechism and familiarizing the Holy Sciptures. He also stated that we must always do it with reverence and gentleness so that the enemies will not only fear us but respect us knowing we respect the person but not the errors. He ended it with a quote “We must practice what we preach!”

After the lesson, the groups have been given a break and we gathered together in the 2nd floor to have snacks. Here the group enjoyed the stories and jokes of Bro. Marwil. The group had their fill and we headed back to our classroom to begin the question and answer portion and gave out suggestions for the direction of the group. Bro. Robertson Poblete and Bro. Mark Castor have exchanged ideas and comments. Bro. Marwil expressed his thought that “we should not be afraid and be affected of things because the devil will do his work to stop us!” He then identified the next topic, “The True Church” which will be reported by Bro. Louie Hermosa and Bro. Robertson Poblete. He added that the next session will be in May 10, 2014 at the same venue. Our event concluded with advices for the group from our very own veterans namely Bro. Manny Protacio and Bro. Gerry Valenzuela.
