Jehovah’s Witnesses often used Genesis 40:22-23 and Matthew 14:6-10 to say that it is wrong for Jehovah’s Witnesses to celebrate their birthdays since this is a Pagan practice.
Do the events in these two verses happen in all birthdays that Christians celebrate?
What usually happens in birthdays celebrated by Christians?
First, they pray before the food is eaten. Is this the teaching of Pagans?
Saint Paul said this, “Since everything God created is good, we should not reject any of it but receive it with thanks. For we know it is made acceptable by the word of God and prayer.”(1 Timothy 4:4-5, New Living Translation)
Saint Paul said this. Is he a pagan?
Second, St. Paul teaches to pray in all circumstances and that includes birthday celebrations.
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”(1 Thessalonians 5:8, English Standard Version)
Does that mean giving thanks to God for His blessings and many birthdays is a Pagan practice?
Third, the poor people are invited to be feed during birthdays. Is this want Pagans teach?
This is a teaching of Christ.
“But when you give a reception, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind.”(Luke 14:13, New American Standard)
Fourth, is feeding the hungry a Pagan practice?
This is one of the corporal works of mercy that Jesus Chris wants us to do.
“For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty.”(Matthew 25:35, New Living Translation)
