CATHOLIC BISHOPS ACCUSED OF RECEIVING PAJERO SUV’s from PCSO agency faced the Senate Committee and were cleared of charges. No illegal acts committed.
It must be POINTED OUT & EMPHASIZED over & over that the CONGRESSIONAL HEARING on the so-called “PAJERO BISHOPS” EXPOSED the following to FULL PUBLIC SCRUTINY & JUDGMENT —
1) The CONCERNED CARDINAL, ARCHBISHOPS & BISHOPS — one of whom was represented by a PRIEST — all had the MALE TESTES or EGG-BALLS or “COJONES” (Spanish) to FACE THEIR ACCUSERS in public, on nationwide TV, & above all, UNDER OATH.
2) The CONCERNED CARDINAL, ARCHBISHOPS, BISHOPS & representative PRIEST did not HIDE BEHIND MASSIVE & ANGRY RALLIES of CATHOLIC FOLLOWERS — attempting to TAKE OVER the EDSA SHRINE or BLOCK OFF MAJOR METRO-MANILA INTERSECTIONS — to make the point & teach everybody that here in the Philippines, there was an INVIOLABLE CONSTITUTIONAL PRINCIPLE of the SEPARATION OF CHURCH & STATE — & that the CHURCH WAS OVER & ABOVE, EXEMPTED FROM, & NOT SUBJECT TO INVESTIGATIONS BY, THE STATE !!
3) The CONCERNED CATHOLIC CHURCH PRELATES clarified that THEY DID NOT RECEIVE “PAJERO SUVs” — or the EQUIVALENT IN OTHER HIGH-END BRANDS or MODELS — & that the VEHICLES provided by the PHILIPPINE GOVERNMENT, thru the PCSO, were VERY RESPONSIBLY & PROPERLY USED in their MISSIONARY DUTIES, OBLIGATIONS, WORK etc. in visiting generally inaccessible depressed areas, providing relief goods & assistance to disaster-visited locations etc., etc., within their ECCLESIASTICAL JURISDICTIONS.
4) To REMOVE THE SLIGHTEST DOUBTS ABOUT THEIR INTEGRITY & SUSPICIONS OF WRONG-DOING, the CONCERNED CATHOLIC PRELATES brought with them the supposedly OFFENDING “HIGH-END VEHICLES” for IMMEDIATE & IRREVOCABLE RETURN TO THE PHILIPPINE GOVERNMENT, or committed that such PERMANENT RETURNS would be effected for VEHICLES still out for maintenance or in the pastoral fields for whatever reason at that time.
5) The DEROGATORY, HIGHLY INFLAMMATORY & UNFAIR NICKNAME — “PAJERO BISHOPS” — was apparently jokingly COINED & TOSSED AROUND by MEMBERS OF THE PCSO BOARD — who, most unfortunately, were not yet provided with the FULL FACTS OF THE CASE — & this was picked up from them by the SENSATION-HUNGRY MASS-MEDIA & SOCIAL MEDIA, which pounced on the NON-ISSUE & most predictably BLEW IT UP (as in the case of a BALLOON) to EXPLOSIVE PROPORTIONS !!
6) The CATHOLIC PRELATES concerned “LOST” their GOVERNMENT-SUPPLIED VEHICLES by RETURNING THEM — while the HIGHEST-RANKING PCSO OFFICIAL — known to be a MOST DECENT, INCORRUPTIBLE, TRUSTWORTHY & RELIGIOUS PERSONALITY — sadly “LOST” HER POSITION by voluntarily TENDERING HER RESIGNATION shortly thereafter !!
