REFUTING SORIANO’S ATTACK ON INFANT BAPTISM By Winnie Ibe

SORIANO’s attack:

The concept of infant baptism to the Roman Catholic Church is a series of false doctrines knotted to form a whole which is that of going to heaven or not. It is tied to a place of no suffering after death called Limbo, “original sin,” and sprinkling of water on body parts especially the forehead – all contrary to what the Bible says.

My response:

SORIANO as always displays his IGNORANCE of the subject of infant baptism. He is NOT aware or dismissed the FACT that before the concept of LIMBO of the infants were proposed the Catholic Church ALREADY baptises infants. In fact we have good reason to believe that Jesus taught us that children need to be baptise to ENTER into the kingdom of God.

Here is the first principle:

John 3:5
Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless man is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”

Of course an infant is HUMAN hence can receive baptism. In Judaism they do circumcise on the 8th day to
Enter the Old covenant.

Let us read:

Acts 7:8
And He gave him the e covenant of circumcision; and so Abraham became the father of Isaac, and circumcised him on the eighth day; and Isaac became the father of Jacob, and Jacob of the twelve patriarchs.

Baptism is the new circumcision which allows both males and females in the New Covenant of Christ.

Colossians 2:11-12 NASB
[11] and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the CIRCUMCISION of Christ; [12] having been buried with Him in BAPTISM, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.”

St. Paul CLEARLY teaches that BAPTISM is the CIRCUMCISION made without hands, removal of body of the flesh. If this is the case then baptism CAN ALSO be administered to infants. This is MUCH like the circumcision of the Israelites IN ORDER TO ENTER the covenant with God in the OT. Christ however tells us that baptism allows us to be in his NEW COVENANT which give us chance to enter his KINGDOM (heaven).

How about ORIGINAL SIN? Again, SORIANO does NOT understand this concept or the doctrine of original sin.

St. Paul says:

Romans 5:12 NASB
[12] Therefore, just as through ONE MAN SIN entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned-“

The first and ORIGINAL SIN was committed by our first parents and we too suffered the consequences of their sin. The great thing is,THE SECOND ADAM who is Our Lord Jesus Christ came to save us and through him and his sacrifice on the cross the sin of Adam is replaced with Jesus’ grace.

Saint Paul explains:

Romans 5:14-15 NASB
[14] Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned in the likeness of the offense of Adam, who is a type i of Him who was to come. [15] But the j free gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many.

When Adam sinned we too received the consequences of his disobedience to God. We lost the grace and severed our relationship with God. Let me demonstrate; If your father went to the casino and bet all your family properties then lost, you too sufferers as a result. Christ is the second Adam who came and restore the grace and reconcile us to God. His obedience till death on the cross redeemed us. If we did not received the punishment of the original sin, then Jesus Christ IS NOT NEEDED. We and by ourselves require him not as the SIN of Adam was ONLY exclusive to him.

My response:

Soriano loves to speak ill against the Catholic Church as he terrible need that to increase his convert, which means he will reap more CASH. He is not aware that baptism is FREE. What is given on the time of the rite is stipend to cover the church maintenance cost. Moreover, there are mass baptisms which are all free.
