HOW IS THE BIRTH OF CHRIST REFLECTED AT MASS?
1) The singing of “glory to God in the highest” is taken from Luke 2:14 when a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying these words during CHRIST’S BIRTHDAY.
2) At the consecration of bread and wine, the faithful fell on their knees in recognition and worship of their Lord, just as the magi fell down and worship the Lord (Mat. 2:11.)
3.) Shortly following the consecration, a prayer for the Pope and Bishop of the diocese is made symbolizing the shepherds who were called to witness Christ (Luke 2:15.)
4.) The mention of Mary and Joseph during the prayer reminds us of the main characters during the Nativity. (Mt 1:16)
