The housekeeper of former Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) minister Lowell Menorca II, Abegail Yanzon, on Monday denied that Menorca had kidnapped her in order to compel her to testify against the church, GMA News TV’s “State of Nation with Jessica Soho” reported.
Yanzon’s parents had earlier claimed that Menorca had kidnapped their daughter.
But Yanzon told GMA News in a phone interview that the INC may have threatened her parents, and that may have been why they said she had been kidnapped. “Huwag na po sana nilang takutin o pilitin pagsalitain po ng alam nilang hindi naman po totoo,” she said.
INC spokesperson Edwil Zabala, meanwhile, did not comment on Abegail’s claim, and suggested that the Yanzon family should be spoken to about the matter.
Menorca, for his part, said that he had fully expected the INC to use the Yanzon family to discredit him. He also asserted that it was the INC that had kidnapped the Yanzon family in Sorsogon. — DVM, GMA News
