Question:
In Matthew 6:8, GOD already knew the things that we want to ask before we pray. If that is the case, why do we still pray even though GOD already knew it?
Yes, it is true that GOD knows everything (Heb 4:13, Mat 6:8), but we have to remember that our Lord Jesus Christ and even his apostles taught us that we have to pray so that we will be strong, ask for the things we want, and we will be always guided by GOD as we face trials and have journey in our lives.
LUKE 22:40
“And when he was come to the place, he said to them: Pray, lest ye enter into temptation.”
EPHESIANS 6:18
“By all prayer and supplication praying at all times in the spirit; and in the same watching with all instance and supplication for all the saints:”
MATTHEW 5:44
“But I say to you, Love your enemies: do good to them that hate you: and pray for them that persecute and calumniate you:”
Therefore, prayer is still much needed and must be practiced since it is one of the commandments of Christ that needs to be followed throughout the world (Mt 28:20).
