De Lima urged: ‘Bring the truth’ on INC controversy
MANILA – As members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo staged a demonstration outside the office of the Department of Justice along Padre Faura, Manila, netizens urged Justice Secretary Leila De Lima to continue the investigation into the alleged abductions and illegal detention of ministers of the religious sect.
#DeLimaBringTheTruth was a trending topic in the Philippines on Twitter on Friday evening,
Iglesia members have accused de Lima of meddling into the Iglesia ni Cristo’s affairs and of giving special attention to the criminal charges filed by former INC minister Isaias Samson Jr. against members of the INC Sanggunian.
On Twitter, netizens told De Lima to continue the investigations.

J+MJ To impose justice to member of a certain sect is not a violation of the separation of the Church and the State. It’s the duty and moral responsibility of the DOJ secretary to secure protection to every citizen of this country,.regardless of his/her religious affiliation . Madam Laila De Lima we are behind you. Illegal detention is a GREAT CRIME AGAINST HUMAN RIGHTS
This is horrible. How can you use the separation of Church and State enshrined in the constitution, wherein the case being filed at the Justice department is in connection with illegal detention, and not with this sect as a whole but certain people who are members of it?
Illegal detention is prohibited not only by our national laws, but by the UN convention of human rights.
Every citizen is entitled to due process of law. If there are nothing to hide, why hinder the investigation ? Why not allow the investigation to start ?
We support your Sec. Leila De Lima, do your job, hold on to the truth, we Catholics support your cause that you will risk everything for the sake of justice, don’t be afraid to fight for the truth because those who are protesting against you is just the minority, remember that Majority of the Filipinos are Catholics, and next is Islam then the Protestants, and we support you, these people who rally against you are calling for a rebellion against the government, to curb the truth and to seek for some privileges……..Majority of the people supports you…..
