[Ngayon, punta na naman tayo sa quoted text mo na John 20:23. The context of John 20:23 ay sa verse 19 where Jesus was speaking to the disciples. He breathed on them to receive the Holy Spirit in verse 22. There is nothing in here about priests having the authority to forgive sins.]

THAT IS NOT THE CONTEXT OF THE TEXT. THE v.19 SIMPLY STATES THAT THE AUTHORITY TO FORGIVE SINS COMES FROM JESUS THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT. MEANING, THE AUTHORITY TO FORGIVE SINS BY THE LEADERS OF THE CHURCH CAME DIRECTLY FROM GOD.

 [There is NOTHING here or anywhere else in the New Testament about apostolic SUCCESSION that says priests have the authority to forgive sins and that it is passed down.]

HA HA HA… YOU CANNOT SEE THE WORD PRIEST BECAUSE YOU ARE MOST PROBABLY IGNORANT OF THE MEANNG OF THE TERM. THE TERM PRIEST OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IS A SIMPLIFIED AND SHORT FORM OF PRESBYTER FROM GREEK WORD PRESBYTEROS, PLURAL PRESBYTEROI. THE LEADERS OF THE CHURCH ARE CALLED PRESBYTEROI IN GREEK WITH PRESBYTEROS FOR SINGLE FORM. IN ENGLISH THEY ARE CALLED PRESBYTER AND ITS SIMPLE FORM PRIEST:

MATTHIAS BECAME AN APOSTLE THROUGH DIRECT APPOINTMENT FROM THE LORD JESUS BUT BY AUTHORITY OF ST. PETER WHO CALLED FOR ELECTION [cf. Acts 1:15-23]. THERE IS A SUCCESSION OF APOSTOLIC AUTHORITY.
