Gin Aster: I often wondered why our Church, a Bible Believing Church, was always very careful in using the Cross symbol. We don’t have it in our Church. Now, I understand why. The Cross is actually a pagan symbol. How about your Church?
Aloysius Kayiwa;
“The Cross is actually a pagan symbol.”
So what? And so that proves…what? that we should not associate with it? If it is of pagan origin, does it mean we should not use it? Does it follow that if pagans used the cross then Christians should not use the symbol?
If so why do you eat food when pagans eat food too? Why do you use wedding rings when they are of pagan origin? Why do you wear clothes when they are of pagan origin?Cats were worshiped as gods by the Egyptians, does this mean that Christians should avoid cats?
I bet you already realize the fallacy in your arguments. Your fallacy is a form of non sequitur.
If you suggest that the cross should not be used by Christians because you think it is a pagan symbol, why did Paul promote the message of the Cross? Paul shows that the cross is not only acceptable but an important part of Christianity.
1 Corinthians 1:17-18 ‘For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel – not with words of human wisdom, lest THE CROSS of Christ be emptied of its power. For the message of THE CROSS is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.’
1 Corinthians 1:23-24 ‘but we preach CHRIST CRUCIFIED(on the cross), unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.’
Who are the numbers 1 proclaimers of the Crucified Lord? THE CATHOLICS. Paul was even in Tears for the Enemies of the Cross like you Gin Aster
Phil 3:18-19 [KJV] ‘for many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the ENEMIES of THE CROSS of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.’
Jesus Himself told us to embrace the cross;
Matthew 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
How can you follow that Command of the LORD if you call His cross pagan?
Who are the enemies of the Cross of Christ? Definitely, the enemies of the Cross of Jesus mentioned by St. Paul are people like your selves Gin Aster.
You should repent for blaspheming the Cross of Jesus where He died for your sins.
And BTW, you claim you are a Bible believer. Now let us test your claims;
Show me from the Bible where it says that the Cross is a pagan symbol and should not be used by Christians?
Good luck! If you cant find it from the Bible, don’t ever pretend again that you are a Bible believer. And for that matter, do not ever post nonsense here again that you are a Bible believer when you contradict the Bible. You should not be appearing in the forums again as well because you don’t know better.
Your Biblical ignorance is just outstanding.I am glad I could help you see the fallacy in your posts. At the same time remember there are good people in the SDA and other cults you belong to who are very misled-just like you.
The Bible seems irrelevant to you because i can see that you are upholding the garbage polluted into your mind by your pastors.Your ignorance of the Bible is typical of unlearned bigots. Just try doing a little study on your own for a change.
