The prosperity Gospel of the self-proclaimed Born Again Manny Pacquiao.
The recent conversion, if ever we could call it that, from Catholicism to Born Again has lead Manny Pacquiao to a more Biblical, more closer approach God than ever he was in the Catholic fold. From the perspective of the Born Again people, the overview of this conversion is salvation for Paquiao. And why not? Salvation of our souls is the one thing we look forward to when we reach the setting of our suns so to speak. It is a famous teaching in the Born Again pulpit that we humans fall short of God’s glory, and indeed the Catholic Church acknowledges the same. In fact, we teach that humans have deficiencies, humans look to God for strength. We glorify God because of He is Who He Is, all knowing, all perfect.
However, looks like the message has lost in the wilderness for the supposedly religious and Christian Manny Pacquiao.
DID HE FORGET THAT HE CANNOT DO EVERYTHING? THAT HE ALSO FALL SHORT OF GOD’S GLORY?
Nothing is wrong with money. In fact, the Gospel tells us to use our money productively and for charity. The money given by God only makes sense if it is indeed makes its way for God’s purpose. But what is happening?
Didn’t Manny Pacquiao remember the story of the Rich Man and Lazarus. I am not saying Manny Pacquiao is not helping the poor, what I am saying is “WHY WOULD MANNY PACQUIAO INDULGE HIMSELF INTO WORDLY THINGS WHICH HE OUGHT TO HAVE GET AWAY WITH IN THE FIRST PLACE WHEN HE HAS SUPPOSEDLY CONVERTED?” Is he not still happy that God made him glorious when he beat all the competitors with the magnificent maneuvering and skills?
This is my outburst of cry over the recent phony move of PBA over the punishment of an import Orton when he said Manny Pacquiao’s career as a Basketball player is a joke. Because indeed it is.
The saying of Jesus Christ comes to mind. Gospel of Luke 12:48 “From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all the more.”
