The Episcopal Church is no stranger to supporting abortion and now an Episcopal priest in Louisiana is pushing a letter urging Christians to support building a new Planned Parenthood abortion business in New Orleans.

Over the last year, Louisiana Right to Life, the Catholic Church and local pro-life advocates have worked overtime to do everything possible to stop the construction of a new abortion facility.Construction was stopped at one point recently because of violations.

Now,  Rev. Walter Baer of the Episcopal Church of the Annunciation, located across the street from the new Planned Parenthood location, has released a letter encouraging all Christians to get behind the abortion business. Naturally, he ignores the abortion component of the planned Planned Parenthood facility.

Tonight, Louisiana Right to Life is sponsoring a pro-life rally to oppose the abortion clinic.

episcopalchurchIn a letter entitled “People of Faith Support Reproductive Rights” published this weekend in the New Orleans Advocate, Baer argues it’s a good thing that his congregation is getting a new neighbor.

“I write to express my support for the right of the clinic to be there and to serve the reproductive needs of our community… I also write to make clear that there are many Christians, Christian denominations and many other people of faith who support the reproductive rights of women,” Bear explains. “I am very disappointed with some fellow Christian people and churches who have made threats of exclusion and boycotts to congregants who wish to work with the clinic.”

“As a parish church that is named for the most wondrous conception in history, we welcome the Planned Parenthood clinic to the neighborhood. It will serve a very important role in education, health screenings, contraception and, when necessary, a safe place for the termination of pregnancy,” Baer concludes.

Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in America, performing over 330,000 abortions every year. This represents one-third of all the abortions in the United States. Until now, Planned Parenthood had no abortion centers in Louisiana, but that will soon change.

New Orleans has approved a construction permit for Planned Parenthood to build a 7,000 square foot abortion facility in the heart of the city. It is  will have the capacity to perform at least 30 abortions every day.

The Most Reverend Gregory Aymond, Archbishop of New Orleans, has responded by reminding Catholics that anyone who cooperates and enables the construction of this facility is directly cooperating with a grave evil.

He goes on to say, “For this reason, the archdiocese, including its churches, schools, apartments for the elderly and nursing homes, will strive in its privately funded work not to enter into business relationships with any person or organization that participates in actions that are essential to making this abortion facility a reality.”
