INCREDIBLE! Catholic Church Holds Biggest Fundraiser Ever Recorded In Uganda’s History

The Government of Uganda and the Roman Catholic Church in Uganda is currently fundraising for the redevelopment of the Uganda Martyrs Shrine at Namugongo and Munyonyo.

It is against this background that a special fundraising dinner was held at Katonga Hall at Kampala Serena Hotel . The dinner had President Yoweri Museveni as the Chief fundraiser. He was flanked by the Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese His Grace Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga.

The Chairman organizing committee for the fundraising was none other than the Rt. Hon Prime Minister of Uganda Amama Mbabazi.

The other high profile guest was Bank of Uganda Governor Prof. Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile. He had come leading a delegation from Bank of Uganda of  top directors.

The fundraising dinner started at a low key as different city tycoons flocked into Serena Hotel.  Among the early birds for the dinner was MTN Chairman and city tycoon Charles Mbire. Hot on his heels was Eng. John Byabagambi, the State Minister for Works and Transport.

Other high profile businessmen and women to follow later included Kellen Kayonga of the Askar Security Services fame. Also in attendance was Crown Beverages Ltd Chairman Amos Nzeeyi. He came along with some other city tycoon friends like Godfrey Kirumira, Chairperson of Kwagalana city tycoons association.  Also present was Kisoro tycoon Tom Mugenga. Other city tycoons included Roofings Ltd owner Lalani Kalan, Oscar Industries proprietor MohanKiwanuka who is also the husband to Finance Minister Maria Kiwanuka.

Ministers present included Hon Okello Oryem, the International Relations Minister, Energy Minister Eng. Irene Muloni, Government Chief Whip Justine Kasule Lumumba.

Other leading city prominent persons included Metropolitan Advertising Agency Boss Alex Rukundo, Monitor Publications Ltd M.D Alex Asiimwe, Red Pepper’s Arinaitwe Rugyendo, China Communication Construction Company MD.

Brig.Gen. Sabiti Mutebile was also in attendance. Several top city companies such as Appliance World, Picfare, Eskom Uganda Ltd, Roko Construction Company, Indian Association to mention a few also had high profile representatives.

In an interesting twist all of Uganda’s telecom companies’ MDs were present at the dinner and they all pledged full support towards the cause. Their support will come mostly through their offer to use Mobile Money channels to raise funds for the redevelopment of the Martyrs Shrines.

Also present was top CEOs of Uganda’s leading banks. They also pledged to use their banking platforms and branches to raise funds for the Namugongo and Munyonyo Martyrs Shrines redevelopment.

Uganda Catholic Voices was also represented by Isaiah Rwanyekiro and Ambrose Kibuuka.  Catholic Voices was providing live-streaming of the event on its social media platforms.
