The Holy Trinity

The Holy Trinity

Erick Quinto

Splendor1618: so, what mama eli pointed out is simply the manifestation of the humility of the lord Jesus but the Father himself declares the lord Jesus is equal to Him as God. (cites Hebrews 1:8)
HERE IS WHERE FALSE PREACHERS ARE GOOD AT – ADDING TO THE WORDS OF GOD WHICH QUALIFIES THEM AS LIARS (PROVERBS 30:6). THERE IS NO WORD “EQUAL” IN HEBREWS 1:8 “BUT UNTO THE SON HE SAITH, THY THRONE, O GOD, IS FOR EVER AND EVER: A SCEPTRE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS IS THE SCEPTRE OF THY KINGDOM.” BUT WHEN SPLENDOR1618 CONCLUDED, HE ADDED THE WORD “EQUAL”. THE FATHER AND THE SON ARE BOTH GOD BUT THEY ARE NOT EQUAL BECAUSE THE FATHER IS GREATER THAN THE SON. SPLENDOR1618’S EXPLANATION IS FALLACIOUS. NOT BECAUSE THE FATHER SAID THAT THE SON IS GOD IT WOULD MEAN THAT THEY ARE EQUAL. TWO MEN CAN BE BOTH POLICEMEN BUT ONE MAYBE HIGHER THAN THE OTHER; ONE MAYBE SPO1 AND ONE MAYBE SPO4.

Erick Quinto _ here’s a good study for you who have a problem understanding of “Person” and “Nature”…These definitions are essential for proper understanding of Scriptures.
1)A “Person”>>>>possesses>>>>>>A “Nature”
2) A “Person” possesses the question “Who” A Person” does what its nature is capable of doing.>>>>A “Nature” possesses a question of “WHAT” it is WHAT the Person is capable of doing but it’s the “Person” who does it.
3) A Person has a body with five senses which allow it to communicate with the outside world. A Person has a soul and a spirit. 1Thessalonians 5:23. >>>>Everything has a nature, chemicals, plants, animals, minerals, and humans, however everything is not a person.
4) The Spirit:has the faculties of intellect and free will.>>>>Each of us is one person with one nature.
5) The Soul: Is the principal of life, everything alive has a soul. >>>>>>When an animal or plant dies their souls simply cease to exist.
6) The soul and spirit taken together are called spiritual soul.>>>>The human spiritual soul differs from the souls of animals and plants in that it will never cease to exist, it will live on for all eternity.
JESUS THE Christ (Matthew 16:20, Acts 3:20).
1) He has a human nature, therefore He could speak as a man, “The Father is greater than I”.John 14:28.>>>>
2) He has Divine Nature, therefore He could speak as GOD: “I and the Father are one. John 10:30.
3) He could not be a HUMAN PERSON since that would make HIM two Persons.>>>>>
He is a Divine person with two Natures….the Persons Die on Crosses Not Natures, Therefore, since the Person died, GOD died on the Cross. Acts 3:15, Revelation 1:5, 2:28.>>>
Note: Since God cannot die in His Divine Nature, He was living His Divine Nature while He was dying in Human nature. He was both living and dead at the same time….
The Holy Trinity is in Scripture:
1. There is but one GOD………………Ex 3:14, *Deut 6:4, Jn 17:3
2. There are no other gods…………….Isa 43:10,44:6-8, 1Cor 8:4-6
3. GOD is the creator……………….….Psa 90:2, Isa 44:24, Heb 3:4,11:3
4. The Father is GOD…………………1Cor 8:4-6, 2Pet 1:17
5. The Father is Lord………………….Gen 2:8-9
6. The Son is GOD…………………..…Jn 1:1-3, Col 1:16
7. The Son is Lord………………….…..Jude 4
8. The Holy Spirit is GOD…………..Job 33:4, Act 5:3-4
9. The Holy Spirit is Lord……………2Cor 3:17
10. Three persons in one GOD……….Gen 1:26, Mt 28:19, 2Cor 13:14
11. Father, Son, Holy Spirit………..Mt 3:16-17, Mk 1:9-11, Jn 14:26, 1Cor 12:4-6
12. False gods will perish……………….Jer 10:11 …….
“How can I recognize a false teacher / false prophet?”Answer:Jesus warned us that “false Christs and false prophets” will come and will attempt to deceive even God’s elect (Matthew 24:23-27; see also2 Peter 3:3 and Jude 17-18). The best way to guard yourself against falsehood and false teachers is to know the truth. To spot a counterfeit, study the real thing. Any believer who “correctly handles the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15) and who makes a careful study of the Bible can identify false doctrine. For example, a believer who has read the activities of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit inMatthew 3:16-17will immediately question any doctrine that denies the Trinity. Therefore, step one is to study the Bible and judge all teaching by what the Scripture says.

Jesus said “a tree is recognized by its fruit” (Matthew 12:33). When looking for “fruit,” here are three specific tests to apply to any teacher to determine the accuracy of his or her teaching:

Erick Quinto

Sese Baluga Scriptural understanding cannot be attained by personal knowledge. That’s why no amount of guidelines will work. It is God who opens the mind of His children to understand the scriptures. Luke 24:45 “Then opened He their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,” To understand the scriptures, one must pass God’s requirement for Him to open his mind. Without God’s intervention, it is impossible even for a very intelligent man to understand the scriptures. Matthew11:25 “At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.” 1 Corinthians 1:20-21 “Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.”

Sese Baluga

2 Peter 2:1, RSV, “But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you,
who will secretly bring in destructive heresies (‘sects of perdition’ in the DRB, ‘damnable heresies’ in the KJ),
even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.”Elucidation:
‘Destructive heresies’, ‘sects of perdition’, ‘damnable heresies’???
If you are not familiar with the word ‘perdition’, please Google it or consult a dictionary. It is scary.
These are very strong words from Holy Scripture to say the least. Never should anyone elide them.
Isn’t dividing the Body of Christ into tens of thousands of pieces* destructive?
What ever happened to another verse, elided by those that split the Body of Christ, where He
prayed to the Father that they be one?
For those who are the authors of those divisions, do you think that they ever read the last
five words of 2Peter 2:1?

*There are over 40,000 individual sects that call themselves Christian at the time of this writing.

2Peter 2:2, “And many will follow their licentiousness, and because of them the way of truth will be reviled.

Elucidation:
This is a very interesting verse. Did you know that the early followers of Jesus Christ were called
“The Way” before they were called Christian?
See these verses: Mk 1:3, 12:14, Lk 3:4,20:21, Jn 1:23,14:4-5,*14:6, Acts 9:2,16:17,18:25-26,*19:9,23,22:4,24:*14,22.
2Peter 2:2 also said “the way”, and not “the ways”, since there can be only one way of truth.
“The way of truth will be reviled” is certainly true even to this day what with all of the
never ending attacks against the only Church that Jesus Christ founded.

2Peter 2:12, “But these men, like irrational animals created by nature for capture and destruction,
deride what they do not understand, and will perish in their own corruption…”.

Elucidation:
Here is a quote from Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen (1895-1979) which fits perfectly with this verse:
“There are not more than 100 people in the world who truly hate the Catholic Church,
but there are millions who hate what they perceive to be the Catholic Church.”
How many to this day “deride what they do not understand” about the Catholic Church?
They do so because of what they believe in what they are taught by false teachers, rather than
by going to the source, the Catholic Church, for the truth of what it teaches.
Read about how I got started in apologetics whereas to know what non-Catholics were taught,
I did not listen to them but went directly to their sources for the truth of what they were taught.
I obtained their own teaching materials, and saw for myself the misconceptions they had
regarding the Catholic Church.

Here is what is said about 2Peter 2:12 from the Haydock Bible commentary:
Ver. 12. But these men, &c. These infamous heretics of whom he speaks, like brutes, void of reason, naturally
following the disorderly inclinations of their nature corrupted by sin, tend, or run headlong into the snares of the devil,
to their own destruction and perdition, blaspheming against the mysteries of religion, and against what they do not understand. (Witham)

2Peter 3:16, “In these epistles there are certain things difficult to understand,
which the unlearned and unstable distort, just as they do the rest of the Scriptures also,
to their own destruction.”

Elucidation:
Again we see a verse that reverts back to:
2Peter 1:20, “…no prophecy of Scripture is made by private interpretation.”
Essentially it is the same instruction but using different wording.
Why does a person repeat himself? It is to add emphasis to the lesson because of its importance.
If anyone sees himself or herself imbedded in this verse, please do not avoid the last four words.

Erick Quinto

Sese Baluga You comment is very far from my point. I am questioning Abe’s claim that Father himself said that the Son is equal with Him and cited Hebrews 1:8.
If we will follow Abe’s reasoning that because the Father called the son God it means that they are equal, you will have a problem with John 10:34-35 “Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;” It is written in the scriptures. God said “Ye are gods”. Are those gods equal with Him just because He called them gods? Think about it.

Sese Baluga

Erick Quinto – Are you referring to yourself, The arguments I brought up, they are not mine but teaching of the Catholic Church for 2000 years….True it is God who open the mind of His children how the there are different protestant sect like you who uses the bible and privately interpret it? Do you know how many sects and denomination because of this approach? 39,000 to 41,000 different group including you and your Dating Daan sect using the bible? I have ask many non catholic sect who read and interpret biblical verses, My question to you WHERE DID YOU GET THE BIBLE? WHERE DID THE BIBLE CAME FROM? WHOSE AUTHORITY YOU SUBSCRIBE WHY YOU BELIEVE IN THE BIBLE THAT IT IS THE WRITTEN WORD OF GOD? WHO COMPILED THE SACRED BOOKS BETTER KNOW AS CANON OF THE SCRIPTURES?…Your personal and private opinion has no bearing on doctrinal truth whatsoever… 2Peter 3:16, “In these epistles there are certain things difficult to understand,
which the unlearned and unstable distort, just as they do the rest of the Scriptures also,
to their own destruction.”

May God enlightens you….
Read my posting regarding Person and Nature you will learn a lot about Christological understanding…

Erick Quinto

Sese Baluga Our doctrine is in the scriptures. I am not sharing any personal opinion. I am questioning Abe’s personal MISinterpretation of Hebrews 1:8. He used that verse to prove that the Father and the Son are equal. Stick to that topic.

Sese Baluga

Erick Quinto So what’s wrong with Abe’s Father himself said that the Son is equal with Him and cited Hebrews 1:8. What’s your objection?
what do you think Jesus is echoing or alluding to?

Erick Quinto

Sese Baluga The Son said, “The Father is greater than I”. John 14:28. That’s the truth. They are not equal. The Father is greater.

Sese Baluga

Erick Quinto – Here’s what Jesus said “I and the Father are one”. Is Jesus Christ God?
Did the Scriptures indicate in any way that Jesus is God? If so where are those indications? According to the Prophet Isaiah, the Messiah/Christ would be God.
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government will be upon his shoulder, and his name will be called “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David, and over his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and for evermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this. (Isaiah 9:6-7 RSV)
In the New Testament, there are many indications pointing to the fact that Jesus is God.
For example in the Gospel of John it is written: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God; all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. (John 1:1-3 RSV)

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father. (John 1:14 RSV)

Jesus after healing a man on the Sabbath made the Jews quite angry and very disturbed. The Jews got mad when they heard Jesus making Himself equal to God. But Jesus answered them, “My Father is working still, and I am working.” (John 5:17-18 RSV) This was why the Jews sought all the more to kill him, because he not only broke the Sabbath but also called God his Father, making himself equal with God.

Jesus again was about to be stoned when he called God His Father. ”I and the Father are one.” The Jews took up stones again to stone him. Jesus answered them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father; for which of these do you stone me?” The Jews answered him, “It is not for a good work that we stone you but for blasphemy; because you, being a man, make yourself God.” (John 10:30-33 RSV)

Also, when Thomas saw the resurrected Jesus he plainly called Christ God. Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:28 RSV)

Which one would I believe Erick, you or Jesus himself? Do you think scriptures will lie? or your personal and private opinion are heretical and erroneous?…God Bless!
