GRAND DEBATE 2014-”RESOLVE THAT FELIX MANALO IS THE LAST MESSENGER OF GOD IN THE LAST DAYS.”
During this debate bro Alvin established that in the New Testament dispensation a person is appointed to the apostolic ministry by the laying of hands (Acts 13:1-13, 1 Tim 4:14, 5:22, Titus 1:5, etc). So he challenged Ventilacion to show who among the elders of the Church laid his hands on Felix Manalo in order for him to be a legitimate messenger. Finding that he is trapped in a corner, Ventilacion in his next cross-examination asked bro Alvin if there is a passage in the Bible where we can read that Peter himself was ordained. This is nothing but a desperate ploy on the part of Ventilacion to move away the focus from Felix Manalo. He committed the fallacy of arguing from the negative. That if this cannot be read then ergo it didn’t happen. In the same vein, since we have no biblical passage which states that the apostles were baptized with water must we also suppose that they did not receive the sacrament of baptism? Since the apostles preached the necessity of baptism to incorporate a person into the Church and that necessity of the imposition of the hand as the norm by which a person is appointed to the apostolic ministry then they must first of all have receive these sacraments from Jesus himself whether we can read it in Scriptures or not.
Ventilacion at this point is now grasping for straw to hold hold only to find out that is breaks and he falls back into the pit which he himself has dug. However, the INC members not appraising the force of our arguments applauded blindly at the behest of their beleaguered champion. This debate will be remembered as the downfall of Ventilacion. Goliath was no much to the sling of David.
